Theresa Noelle
Our Estate Pinot Noir Vineyard
Planted in 2007, the Theresa Noelle Vineyard is located on the far western edge of the Sta. Rita Hills appellation. Mr Zarif, baptized the name of the Theresa Noelle Vineyard in honor of the birth of our winemaker (at the time) daughter Theresa Noelle. While we were in the process of planting the vineyard. The densely planted vineyard contains 2400 plants-per-acre. Within its 11 acres there are four different Pinot Noir clones: 115, Pommard, 667, and 828; and has 6X3 spacing of the 4 blocks. Theresa Noelle Vineyard first debuted in 2011 and the vines have already produced multiple award-winning wines. Aged in 50% French oak barrels and 50% neutral oak barrels, delivering a supple and delicious wine that ages with elegance.
Soil and Climate
Theresa Noelle Vineyard is auspiciously located high on a bluff which is influenced by coastal fog and afternoon breezes. The Sta. Rita Hills have some of the world's largest and purest deposits of diatomaceous earth -- a chalky substance consisting of fossilized hard-shelled algae, layered into the hillsides by earthquakes and volcanoes. It's the same stuff as the white cliffs of Dover, and it indirectly correlates into a fascinating note of minerality and salinity in the glass. With little rain and well-drained soils, the vines maintain good acidity and develop concentrated fruit.
